We are looking for a registered manager for a Short Stay Children’s Home in in Romiley, Stockport. This is an exciting opportunity as a Registered Manager; you will be managing an existing established children’s home.
The Children’s Home support young people and their families, providing short term respite. All the young people that we support in this service have Autism and Learning Difficulties as well as other complex needs. You will work with your team to provide a safe and nurturing home for the young people that you support; we provide compassionate, nurturing care for children and families who need a short break so that they can rest and re-charge.
Safeguarding checks will be undertaken for the successful candidate in line with our safer recruitment policy, including an Enhanced DBS check (at no cost to yourself).
Location: Romiley, Stockport
Hours: 37.5 hours - Full Time / Permanent
Salary: £49,953 per year (25.61ph)
Enhancements: Sleep-in allowance of £107.60 per sleep shift
Weekend hours paid at time and a quarter (£32.01)
On call payments of £40 – Monday to Friday, £80 for weekends, £120 for bank holidays

We are looking for a registered manager for our Children’s Residential Service in Romiley, Stockport. This is an exciting opportunity as a Registered Manager to oversee a busy service that provides short stay respite provision to Young People with Autism, Learning Difficulties and different complex needs. You won’t just be supporting a short break for the Young People that we are also supporting the wider family unit.
Responsibilities include but are not exhaustive
- Provide a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment that meets the basic physical, health, social needs and rights of the young people.
- Support less experienced staff via positive and effective team working, to achieve high-quality standards of care.
- Participate to establish an enabling culture, which individually and in groups, actively promotes the young people’s life chances to achieve optimal outcomes in line with the Quality care standards.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of systems and policies.
- Supervise and/or undertake key working responsibilities, including primary responsibility for the more complex cases, especially where safeguarding issues are involved.
- Develop, demonstrate, promote and maintain a good level of awareness of safeguarding issues, assessing and recording risk.
- Make assessments of need and coordinate the formulation of plans to enable these needs to be met.
- Maximise educational opportunities and achievements for young people.
- Supervise and undertake direct work that is designed to meet the young person’s needs as identified within the care plan
- Establish and maintain positive and productive networks with communities and other agencies to achieve optimal outcomes and to implement practices.
- Contribute to the assessment and appraisal of team members using discussion, direct observation.
- Promote a positive image of the Trust through professional presentation at meetings in clear, factual report writing.
- Take responsibility for the promotion of safeguarding and the welfare of children and young persons for who they are responsible for.
About You;
We are looking for Managers or Assistant Managers with a proven record for getting results from their staff team. Which includes the following:
- Registered Manager’s Award (Level 5 RMA Children) (combined management & care award) and well as prior completion of the QCF Level 3 / 4 CFYP or old NVQ Children’s Residential.
- Significant residential childcare experience
- A sound understanding of Ofsted regulations and expectations.
- Ability to demonstrate effective leadership.
- Ability to achieve service delivery to national standards.
- Passion to develop further services for children/young people.
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies
- Flexibility to respond to the needs of the young people
- Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and time management skills
- A current clean driving licence
