Bank Sleep Practitioner

We now have a unique opportunity for a Bank Sleep Practitioner to join our well established and successful Sleep Clinic Team.

The role is approximately 15 hours per week with occasional journeys to Bradford as required. Own transport is essential.

As a Bank Sleep Practitioner, you will make a real difference and enable us to reach more families who need our help, while gaining great experience and insights into the support we offer to autistic children, young people and their families.

You will work as a member of the Therapy & Specialist Support (TSS) team: an interdisciplinary team which includes speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, specialist teachers and PBS practitioners. 

Reporting to the Sleep Services Manager you will provide personalised advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people with sleep difficulties across all ages and ability ranges. This role specialises in helping autistic children, young people and those with complex communication needs.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Managing a case load of individual family referrals.
  • Assessing the child’s sleep problem to determine its nature and any contributing factors. 
  • Working with families to develop a sleep plan encouraging the child or young person to develop positive sleep habits. 
  • Providing advice and support to parents who are implementing a sleep programme. 
  • Contributing to the organisation and delivery of sleep clinics and workshops.
  • Offering advice, training and guidance to other professionals as required.
We are looking for someone who has:
  • A recognised professional qualification to degree level with sleep practitioner training.
  • Experience of working with children with complex needs including autism and ADHD.
  • Experience of supporting sleep of young people.
  • Knowledge and understanding at both theoretical and practical levels of current perspectives on autism and SEN.
  • Experience of successful practice in working with parents and families as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to deliver training to professionals and families.
  • A full valid UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
