Working closely with teaching, therapy and support staff, you will help deliver a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum, ensuring learning is accessible and meaningful for every student.
You will support students to develop their skills, confidence and independence, while creating a positive learning environment where they are encouraged to achieve their individual potential.
A key part of the role will be delivering targeted interventions in Literacy, Numeracy and PSHE, monitoring student progress and working in partnership with class teachers to ensure students receive the right support to succeed.
As an Associate Tutor, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities in line with students' individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers and Education Assistants to deliver a high-quality curriculum.
- Use assessment information to inform teaching and adapt learning to meet individual needs.
- Develop and maintain appropriate student records and contribute to progress reports.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), PBS Plans and RAMPs.
- Use a range of teaching and learning strategies to encourage student engagement and achievement.
- Provide appropriate cover for absent colleagues, ensuring standards and expectations remain high.
- Prepare appropriate resources and materials to support effective learning.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, empathetic and committed to helping young people succeed.
You will ideally have experience of working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN) and, preferably, experience of supporting students with autism spectrum condition (ASC).
You will have the ability to build positive relationships with students and adapt your teaching approach to meet a wide range of individual needs.
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Experience of working with children or young people with SEN.
- Experience of successfully supporting or teaching students with ASC.
- Knowledge or experience of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging learning activities.
- Good ICT skills and confidence using technology to support learning.
- A flexible and positive approach to working with students, colleagues and families.
Qualifications requirements:
- Degree in a relevant subject.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above, or equivalent.
Desirable:
- Qualifications or further training relating to SEN.
- Experience of developing courses or programmes of learning.
- Experience of writing and implementing IEPs, PBS Plans or RAMPs.
- Evidence of influencing and improving the quality of learning.
- Experience of contributing to extracurricular activities.

The successful candidate must be working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within a reasonable timeframe.
